In 1992 Jason De Jager (Company Owner and Founder of S.M.U. Trailers & Graphics) decided to ditch school at the end of year 11 to start earning a dollar.

 He was fortunate enough to be offered a position at a highly regarded horse float company where he was taught all aspects of float manufacturing including welding, suspension fitting, steel framing, sheet metal cladding, wiring, etc.

Within 5 years he become the foreman and continued that role for 3 years before turning his hand at sign writing the horse floats with scroll work, pin striping and custom artwork designs for clients.

This lead to other opportunities within the signage industry and started designing, producing and installing signage for shop fronts, factory's, race cars and still managed to do all of his horse float work while operating under the business name Sign Me Up sign-writing.

 As the signage industry become more competitive, a decision was made to combine his knowledge of trailer building with signage and begun as an online trailer dealer for Australian Trailers while offering his customers signage on their new work trailer and so S.M.U. Trailers and Graphics was established.

When Australian Trailers closed down Jason decided to start building his own trailers again but nothing that was like all the other mass produced cheap, nasty trailers that were flooding the market. He wanted to build trailers he was proud to put his name to and nothing like what Australia had seen before in terms of quality and modern designs.

 Fast forward 10 years, S.M.U. Trailers build all their trailers in the Pakenham factory with the backing of the Australian Made Campaign and are regarded as some of the highest quality available in Australia, remains 100% Australian made and owned, has specially trained staff manufacturing to the standards Jason demands and he still works out on the floor with the staff when he can and does all of the signage designs and installs on the new trailers.

 The company has now supplied 1000's of trailers to satisfied customers Australia wide and is always trying to improve the product by listening to the most important people of all. Their Customers.
